Job summary

Hebrew Educational Society in Brooklyn, NY, seeks an Assistant Director of Disability Services to organize and maintain high‑quality services for persons with disabilities and their families. The role includes supervision and hands‑on training of program staff.

The position is full‑time, in person, with evenings as needed, offering a $55,000 yearly salary and benefits such as health and dental insurance, retirement plans, paid time off and 403(b).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Psychology, Social Work or Special Education.
  • 2–3 years of experience with persons with Disabilities including ASD.
  • Some Sundays and evenings required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and mentor others.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Passion for collaborative, interdisciplinary Human Services teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of all programs under Disability Services.
  • Provide hands‑on training on service delivery to staff working with children with disabilities.
  • Collaborate on development and monitoring of program billing, service plans, schedules and activities.
  • Complete monthly note reports for OPWDD programs.
  • Attend and assist with life plan meetings for OPWDD participants.
  • Promote excellence and best practices in disability services.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents, staff and colleagues.
  • Coordinate with management and staff on agency goals and interdepartmental projects.
  • Flexibility to take on additional duties as assigned.
