Job summary

Nisqually Indian Tribe is seeking a Disabilities Coordinator to ensure services for children with disabilities are delivered in the least restrictive environment and coordinated with families and staff.

The role emphasizes confidentiality, accuracy of records, and strong communication. Responsibilities include implementing service plans, staff training, and collaboration with LEAs and health/mental health teams to support eligible children.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree with required experience in early childhood education or social services.
• Experience advocating for children and families during IFSP/IEP processes.
• Valid Washington State Driver's license and clean driving record.
• Pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
• Ability to work with vulnerable populations including children and adults.
• Must pass FBI background check before employment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Disabilities Service Plan and policies are implemented and updated as needed.
• Train all staff annually on disabilities service plans and procedures.
• Ensure birth-to-five Head Start services comply with IDEA and ADA regulations.
• Provide outreach and enrollment for families and children with disabilities.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor development screenings and deadlines.
• Coordinate referrals to LEAs or community agencies for additional assessments.
• Develop relationships with LEAs and community agencies to deliver services.
• Inform parents of assessment results and maintain timely referrals.
• Oversee transitions for children entering/exiting the program.
• Participate in home visits, parent/teacher conferences, and staff meetings.
• Oversee and coordinate equestrian therapy services with Nisqually Tribe Ranch.
