Job summary

Piedmont Family YMCA in Charlottesville, VA, is seeking a Director of Youth Development to lead our youth programs, including Summer Camp, After School, and related OST activities. You will manage a team of five full‑time directors and part-time staff, ensuring safe, high‑quality programs and regulatory compliance.

The role requires 3–5 years in licensed child care or camp programming, a bachelor’s degree (preferred), and experience recruiting and developing volunteers and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred).
• YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
• Three to five years of licensed child care or camp program delivery experience.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, training, and developing volunteers and staff.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Directs and evaluates licensed school‑aged child care programs to expand within the community.
• Develops collaborative relationships with community organizations.
• Oversees OST program operations, Summer Camp, After School, and related activities.
• Manages staff recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation.
• Maintains regulatory compliance and high program quality.
• Supports fundraising activities and event planning as needed.
