Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking a Director of Construction Controls & Oversight to lead weekend capital construction oversight on the NYC Transit system. You will coordinate flaggers, work trains, and track access within safety governance standards, while escalating issues to senior leadership as needed.

The role emphasizes real-time problem solving, field support, and reporting, with telework eligibility of one day per week and travel to field locations as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Urban Planning, Business, Public Policy, Construction Management, Finance/Economics, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Construction Management, Project Management, public policy, public administration, public affairs, or business administration is strongly desired.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in Transportation Planning or related fields.
  • Minimum six (6) years of managerial experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide weekend operational support, safety & security assurance, and construction compliance oversight, coordinating in real time with C&D and NYCT to ensure safe, efficient execution and adherence to planned service changes.
  • Serve as the primary emergency contact for all weekend operations, managing real-time issue resolution for track access, work train coordination, and field challenges, while elevating emergency management, safety & security-critical issues to leadership.
  • Collect, review, and consolidate night and weekend operational data into clear reporting packages that highlight safety performance, resource deployment, access utilization, and operational challenges for leadership.
  • Lead weekly retrospective meetings that surface and resolve systemic or recurring issues.
  • Create, maintain, and utilize summary tracking tools; Prepare and distribute consolidated weekend operations reports.
  • Support and participate in projects and other transit-related initiatives; contribute to continuous improvement of processes and tools.
