This position is eligible for telework, which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.

JOB TITLE: Director, Construction

AGENCY: Construction & Development

REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Construction

WORK LOCATION: 2 Broadway

HOURS OF WORK: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or as required (7.5HR/DAY)

COMPENSATION: $125,983 to $163,930

SUMMARY:

The Director of Construction has the authority to establish and audit construction delivery standards for all engineering and architectural disciplines in C&D Delivery. The Director manages all architectural and engineering construction processes within a Delivery Business Unit to conform to professional industry and MTA C&D standards. This position fosters the development of constructability skills and innovation in project management practices to improve capital projects' quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery. Responsible for the project's construction phase through completion and handover to the operating owner. Responsible for construction quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Oversees review team.
  2. Fosters a culture of innovation and change in construction delivery methods, technologies, and strategy.
  3. Provides the delivery service office with lessons learned and strategies to streamline constructability reviews and creates training opportunities across integrated project teams.
  4. Establishes, monitors, and audits the Design-Builder's construction activities for compliance with the Contract requirements, Design-Builder's Quality Control Plan, and Safety Plan.
  5. Accountable for holding agency reviewers accountable for constructability review duration commitments.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction or Project Management, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field.
  2. Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of related experience.
  3. Must have a minimum of at least five (5) years in the management of construction projects or supervisory roles in a large, multi-faceted organization.
  4. Licensed Professional Engineer or Registered Architect desirable.
  5. PMP and CCM Certifications are preferred.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  8. Demonstrated ability to work in a high-profile, high-pressure environment effectively.
  9. Must have focus and ability to deliver results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
  10. Must be a proven leader as a change agent and creative/innovative thinker with the ability to align business goals with solutions to drive process improvements.
  11. Must possess excellent team building, listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
  12. Proficient computer skills (i.e., Windows environment, Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, Oracle, etc.) and strong business administrative skills (i.e., presentations, report and letter writing, time management, etc.).
