Job summary

MTA Construction & Development is seeking a Director of Construction Controls & Oversight to monitor weekend capital construction activity on the NYC Transit system. You will ensure safe deployment of flaggers, work trains, and track access, while escalating issues to senior leadership.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years in transportation planning or related fields and 6 years of managerial experience; telework is available one day per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Urban Planning, Construction Management, Finance/Economics, or a related field.
• Master’s degree in Construction Management, Project Management, public policy or business administration is strongly desired.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Transportation Planning or related field.
• Minimum of six (6) years of managerial experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and oversee weekend capital construction activity on the NYC Transit system.
• Ensure safe, compliant construction via flaggers, work trains, and track access.
• Document real‑time weekend operations, coordinate emergency responses.
• Lead reporting packages, weekly retrospectives, and status updates.
• Maintain relationships with project teams and operational divisions.
