The Director of Construction Controls & Oversight monitors and oversees weekend capital construction activity primarily on the NYC Transit (NYCT) system. This includes ensuring the effective deployment of construction flaggers, work trains, and track access ("General Orders") across a wide portfolio of projects ; ensuring construction activity is occurring in a safe manner and in compliance with MTA C&D and NYCT procedures; and escalating issues to senior leadership as needed . The role is responsible for documenting and directing real‑time weekend operational oversight, emergency response coordin ation, resource planning, field support, and reporting. Responsibilities
Provide weekend operational support, safety & security assurance, and construction compliance oversight , coordinating in real t ime with C&D and NYCT to ensure safe, efficient execution and adherence to planned service changes .
Serve as the primary emergency contact for all weekend operations, managing real ‑ time issue resolution for track access, work train coordination, and field challenges, while elevating emergency management, safety & security ‑ critical issues to the Office of Safety Oversight and major operational impacts to the Delivery Services Office as appropriate.
Proactively check in with active weekend construction projects to confirm project work commencement and completion, project access, resources, and support were received as planned, escalating systemic or recurring issues to C&D leadership.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational issues in real t ime, escalating to appropriate C&D and NYCT leadership when necessary.
Building and maintaining supportive and collaborative working relationships with project teams and operational divisions is necessary for effective project delivery .
Ensure clear, consistent communication and proper dissemination of critical information.
Coordinate daily with NYCT, B&T, Railroads, and C&D teams to maintain continuity of service, respond to schedule changes, and ensure project execution aligns with delivery and safety governance standards.
Partner with C&D Safety Oversight to identify process enhancements that increase worksite safety.
