Job summary

Samtrans-San Mateo County Transit District seeks a Director of Project Delivery to oversee the delivery of a broad portfolio of transportation programs funded by Measure A and W.

You will lead teams through environmental clearance, design, and construction, supervise staff, and coordinate with Caltrans, the City/County Association of Governments, and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission to ensure on-time delivery of major projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Planning, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Seven years of full-time progressively responsible experience in civil project delivery, construction management, or public works project management.
• Four years of experience supervising professional and technical staff.
• Familiar with transportation planning, engineering, and project delivery principles.
• Knowledge of Caltrans project delivery process.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Must possess a valid California driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Oversee management and delivery of transportation capital projects from environmental clearance through design and construction.
• Provide staff support to SMCEL-JPA for capital program development.
• Monitor project delivery status and guide Project Managers to resolve issues.
• Develop and maintain capital project delivery best practices, processes and procedures.
• Coordinate with local jurisdictions, Caltrans, and regional agencies.
• Serve on Change Management Boards and advisory committees for large projects.
• Provide technical support on planning, policy efforts, and grant/funding strategies.
• Supervise staff, hire, mentor, and enforce performance and EEO policies.
