Job summary

Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District seeks an Assistant Director of Transportation to provide technical and professional support to the Director in managing, planning, and organizing transportation operations and staff. This unrepresented, at-will role focuses on improving district transportation programs and service delivery.

Responsibilities include implementing and evaluating projects to boost on-time performance and safety; acting as Director when needed; overseeing new technology and staff

Qualifications

• Education equivalency at the bachelor’s level in transportation planning, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
• Experience in transit operations with management-level responsibility.
• Valid California Class C driver license or ability to obtain one.
• Ability to pass a criminal background and credit review.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing and evaluating transportation projects and programs.
• Serve as Director of Transportation on a temporary basis when needed.
• Implement and manage new departmental technology and dispatch systems.
• Oversee staff training and coaching.
• Coordinate with managers to ensure efficient operations.
• Prepare reports and analyses on transportation delivery issues.
• Assist in budgeting for the Transportation Department.
• Develop and administer special projects for the Director.
