Hecla Mining Co. is seeking a Director of Total Rewards to lead compensation, benefits, and payroll programs across the United States and Canada.

The role focuses on transforming Total Rewards into a data-informed strategic function, reporting to the CHRO and partnering with Finance, Legal, and Operations. Key areas include self-funded health plans, closed DB pension, 401(k) governance, leave and disability programs, and executive compensation support.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, finance, accounting, or economics or related field.
• 7+ years in total rewards, including 3–5 years leading compensation and/or benefits functions.
• Deep benefits design experience including self-funded health and welfare plan design, budgeting, renewal & vendor management.
• Experience with both 401(k) and defined benefit pension plans, governance, audits, and actuarial coordination.
• Experience designing leave, absence, and disability programs across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience designing compensation programs, including job architecture/leveling and short-term incentives.
• Working knowledge of US and Canadian compensation and benefits regulations (ERISA, ACA, FLSA, IRS/DOL, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA).
• Payroll oversight in multi‑jurisdiction environments with strong internal controls.
• Advanced analytical and Excel/modeling skills; HRIS proficiency.
• Program and project management; people leadership.

• Lead Total Rewards strategy, governance, and foundational build.
• Oversee design and governance of health, retirement, leave, and Canadian programs across US/Canada.
• Manage payroll, HR services, and operational excellence within total rewards.
• Lead a team of two direct reports and develop broader capability.
• Partner with Finance, Legal, Operations and site leadership; communicate rewards concepts clearly.
• Support executive compensation and coordinate with external consultants.
• Lead diligence and integration work during acquisitions; map rewards to career architecture.
