Job summary

Understood.org is hiring a Director of Technology Enablement to report to the VP of Engineering & IT in a hybrid NYC role. You will lead technology enablement, from laptop setup to enterprise AI adoption, and drive transformation across the organization.

The role emphasizes treating employees as customers, stabilization of IT operations, and scaling AI integration, with a Mac-based environment and a required three-day-per-week NYC presence.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in IT or technology roles.
• 3+ years leading a team in a fast-moving or complex environment.
• Experience with technology enablement and change management.
• Ability to set direction across a capability and manage budgets.

Responsibilities

• Act as a technology evangelist to improve workflows with AI and automation.
• Champion Claude and AI across the organization with hands-on skill building.
• Drive adoption and integration of new tools into daily work.
• Lead IT operations, including hardware lifecycle and security.
• Overhaul knowledge management and cross-functional Jira usage.
• Foster a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and self-directed growth.
