Job summary

Augusta University seeks a Director of Mentorship and Student Engagement to provide strategic leadership for programs promoting student engagement, retention, persistence, and academic success. The role oversees mentoring initiatives, leadership development, and the TRIO Student Support Services program, supervising professional and student staff and managing department resources.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 5 years experience in higher education.
• Leadership and supervisory experience in higher education preferred.
• Grant-writing experience preferred.
• Strong communication and collaboration with students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Office of Mentorship and Student Engagement and align with institutional priorities.
• Develop and assess departmental goals and operational practices for student engagement and graduation outcomes.
• Manage the Mentorship and Student Engagement Commons and campus spaces for student connection.
• Lead planning using institutional data, feedback, and assessment results for continuous improvement.
• Represent the office on committees and leadership groups to advance university priorities.
• Supervise and develop the office staff, set expectations and professional growth.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and evaluation processes for staff.
• Provide strategic oversight of budgets, fundraising, communications, and external relations.
• Direct programs like MMP, The Brotherhood Program, Augusta Promise, Jag for Jags, and TRIO SSSP.
• Establish measurable outcomes and use data to drive program effectiveness.
• Teach leadership-focused coursework including Leadership Certificate Program and LDRS courses.
• Collaborate with campus departments to deliver co-curricular programs and initiatives.
