Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking an experienced Director of Software to lead FOS Core and Simplebid vision and execution. You will guide architecture, drive engineering excellence, and align practices with business goals while managing cross-functional teams that deliver scalable, high-quality software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 12 years of qualifying engineering leadership experience.
• Experience migrating legacy to modern stacks for web-based applications and services.
• Proven leadership managing and scaling engineering teams and products in national markets.
• Deep understanding of modern software architecture, cloud, microservices, APIs, CI/CD, Git and DevOps.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making under pressure, and excellent communication.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and Azure DevOps services is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and communicate the technical vision and strategy for our software products.
• Oversee scalable, robust, and secure application architecture with the Digital Products team.
• Drive adoption of best practices in software engineering, testing, and DevOps.
• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of engineers; recruit top talent.
• Collaborate with product management, design, operations, and support to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Oversee CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code reviews.
• Monitor performance, security, and reliability; meet SLAs and customer expectations.
• Stay current with industry trends and foster a culture of innovation.
• Ensure compliance with SOC 2 Type 1 and 2; develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
