Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking an experienced Director of Software to lead FOS Core and Simplebid, guiding architecture, security, and DevOps across mobile and web platforms. You will mentor engineers, align engineering with business goals, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions for internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 12 years of qualifying experience.
• Extensive experience in managing engineering teams and migrating legacy stacks to modern web-based applications.
• Proven leadership scaling engineering teams and products in national markets.
• Deep understanding of modern software architecture, cloud computing, microservices, APIs, CI/CD, Git, and DevOps.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder collaboration.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and Azure DevOps; Microsoft Planner preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and communicate the technical vision and strategy for our software products.
• Manage the design and development of scalable, robust, and secure architecture.
• Drive adoption of best practices in software engineering, including coding standards, testing, and DevOps.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers; recruit top talent and conduct performance reviews.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and operations to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Oversee microservices, cloud-based solutions, and API-driven development.
• Ensure CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code reviews, and on-time delivery.
• Monitor performance, security, reliability, and adjust to meet SLAs.
• Stay current with industry trends and foster innovation and process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with SOC 2 Type 1/2 and disaster recovery planning.
