Job summary

Farnsworth Group, Inc. seeks a Director of Project Accounting in the United States (IL-based) to lead a 10–15 person team across architecture, engineering, and surveying practice groups.

You will manage contract setup, invoicing, revenue recognition, and closeout, ensuring accuracy and timely financial reporting for multiple projects. The role requires expert Deltek VantagePoint/Vision skills, ASC 606 expertise, and a strong track record in AEC project accounting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• 8–10 years of project accounting experience, incl. 3–5 years in supervision or management.
• Experience at a mid-to-large AEC firm with >$100M revenue is strongly preferred.
• Proven track record managing a team of 10+ direct reports in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
• Familiarity with government/federal contracting billing requirements (FAR) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop a team of 10–15 Project Accountants across multiple practice groups.
• Oversee project setup in Deltek VantagePoint/Vision and ensure accurate contract values, billing terms, and labor categories.
• Direct the full invoicing cycle and monitor AR aging and collections coordination with project leaders.
• Oversee monthly revenue recognition and deliver project financial reports to leadership.
• Establish and enforce internal controls and SOPs for project accounting processes and reporting.
