Job summary

NetApp is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead the Production Engineering organization. You will be responsible for reliability, security, and cost efficiency of ONTAP-based cloud products, partnering with PM, Cloud Architecture, and hyperscaler teams to automate operations.

You will own incident management, CI/CD, security compliance, and team growth while scaling for exponential customer growth, and you will evolve toward building Observability, CI/CD, Security, Data Plane, and

Qualifications

BS/BE in CS/Engineering or related field required
Strong knowledge of software architecture and cloud tech expected
Experience leading large teams and complex software initiatives
Experience with incident management, on-call, and SLA/SLO governance
Hands-on engineering background with ability to design and code as needed

Responsibilities

Define and execute Production Engineering strategy for reliability, observability, automation, and cost efficiency.
Own incident management, on-call operations, escalation, and ORR reviews across the org.
Drive CI/CD ownership, release and deployment governance to reduce risk and boost velocity.
Establish reliability metrics (MTTR, paging volume) and lead operational reviews.
Lead platform engineering across Observability, Data Plane, Control Plane, and security tooling.
Lead and develop managers and distributed teams (US and India).
Push AI-assisted, self-healing automation to reduce paging and manual toil.
