Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Director of Process Engineering to lead a technically diverse team handling development and manufacturing processes in pharmaceutical facilities. You will link development and operations, ensuring seamless scale-up from pilot to full production, while aligning with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

You will guide project execution, coach engineers, and collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and third-party contract manufacturers to deliver innovative solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical) is required to provide technical expertise.
• 10+ years experience in the pharmaceutical industry formulation, including at least 4+ years of managerial experience.
• Knowledge of AbbVie Engineering standards.
• Demonstrated leadership and team building skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Proven track record of managing projects through to completion.
• Excellent communication skills with layers of management.

Responsibilities

• Communicates and collaborates with internal and external partners to provide effective technical and business leadership.
• Maintain and direct a highly diversified cross functional staff to ensure lifecycle management is completed on time and within budget.
• Develops engineering objectives and strategies that advance the site and look for opportunities for optimization and cost reduction.
• Develop and communicate cost estimates, business plans, timelines and contingency plans.
• Participate in capital plan input and capital project execution to advance manufacturing capabilities.
• Make final decisions related to project responsibilities.
• Represent AbbVie during audits to regulatory agencies by supplying information with active participation.
• Provide leadership, coaching, training, and mentoring to direct reports and ensure resources meet demands.
