Summary

The Director, Pre-Sales Applications Engineering/Technical Solutions will develop technical solutions, processes, and organizational support structure to help meet our customer’s system design and implementation needs. They will manage a team of applications engineers to analyze customer requirements, develop solutions, and provide other pre-sale technical advisory services to support customer project opportunities in tight coordination with the commercial sales team to ensure overall customer success and satisfaction. The Director will possess a high-level technical understanding of Grid-scale ESS and PV power plant systems and applications as well knowledge of project development and execution necessary to develop functional solutions. The Director will also be a champion of a culture that puts client centered customer service at forefront of everything their team does.

Essential Functions

  • Lead a team of applications engineers to analyze customer requirements, develop solutions, and provide other pre-sale technical advisory services to support customer project opportunities.
  • Plan, hire and train a team of applications engineers to align with the company’s rapid growth.
  • Work in partnership with the commercial sales team to ensure overall customer success leading to repeat business.
  • Provide leadership and both technical and soft skills mentorship to the applications engineering team to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Foster a culture of excellence in customer service, innovation, creativity, design rigor and excellence within the application engineering team.
  • Develop and execute system design strategies that align with the company’s current and next generation product solutions.
  • Collaborate with other teams including Sales Product, and Field Support, to ensure customer success.
  • Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, implementations, and competitive solutions to maintain and leverage a SWOT analysis.
  • Support the management of the applications engineering team budget and allocate resources effectively.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and consulting engineers in concert with sales and other functional teams.
  • Be a leader and active team player in sales pursuits as an experienced subject matter expert in our field.
  • Proactively engage key technology partners to broaden the reach of the company’s offering.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and laws.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in application engineering, and product development, 5+ years of experience in leadership roles in grid-scale ESS, PV ESS and related fields.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, hire, develop, and lead a sales engineering organization.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, collaboration and team mindset,
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and rapidly changing environment.
  • Able to travel up to 50% locally and internationally.
