Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal is seeking a Director in our Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) group to lead operations and transformation initiatives for portfolio companies across the United States.

You will collaborate with PE leadership to design and implement performance-improvement plans, drive cost reductions, and deliver actionable recommendations that enhance EBITDA while navigating complex engagements.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional or consulting experience implementing cost-reduction programs.
• Depth in a particular industry vertical (e.g., industrial, business services, distribution, consumer products and retail) is a plus.
• MBA from a top-tier school is highly preferred.
• Experience working with private equity or PE relationships is a plus.
• Experience in both professional services and industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Structure and manage time-sensitive improvement plans to completion.
• Identify opportunities to reduce cost by restructuring leadership and staffing.
• Synthesize data and insights to boost EBITDA and efficiency.
• Implement cost-reduction programs including role changes and workforce actions.
• Develop findings and strategic recommendations.
• Hands-on consulting across margins and pricing.
• Support S&OP, supply chain, org structure and KPIs.
• Improve working capital and cash management.
