Job summary

Brown & Brown is seeking a Director of Underwriting to lead our contract surety team. You will underwrite bonds, assess risk, and ensure timely processing of bid requests while upholding our policies.

In this leadership role, you will manage internal underwriters, mentor staff, build agency relationships with surety partners, and drive premium production through a client-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite contract surety bonds - assessing risk acceptability
• Review new contract bond/account submissions for completeness and compliance with our policies
• Oversee the fiscal status of accounts, including in-depth analysis of annual accounting audits and internal financial statements
• Build and enhance agency relationships — schedule regular meetings with established surety companies, visit accounts, and actively identify and secure new surety partnerships
• Drive premium production growth by leveraging strong market knowledge and a proactive, client-focused approach
• As Director this person oversee/managed internal underwriters along with training/development of these employees
