Job summary

Algiers Charter School Association seeks a Director of Transportation to lead and oversee all transportation functions for student mobility, fleet maintenance, routing, and scheduling. You will ensure safe operations, compliance with policies, and coordination with school leadership and families.

The role requires extensive leadership, prior experience in school transportation, and a CDL with a P endorsement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in school transportation operations with 1+ year supervisory experience
• Bachelor degree in a related field from an accredited college or university
• CDL with a 'P' endorsement required
• Valid First Aid and CPR certifications or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
• Knowledge of Louisiana statutes and implications on education programs and liability
• Demonstrates persistence, urgency, and leadership to achieve results
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Excellent time management and organizational abilities

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership with safety updates for day-to-day transportation operations and monitor policies and procedures relating to student transport
• Oversee daily bus routes and maintenance operations
• Research and suggest purchases for equipment and materials for compliance with policies
• Resolve daily operational problems and emergencies in coordination with leadership
• Coordinate start-of-school protocols and scheduling with staff, schools, and parents
• Establish and maintain relationships with parents and schools on protocols and route development
• Supervise transportation staff and conduct safety trainings and drills
• Prepare for annual state bus inspections and resolve inspection issues
• Collaborate with departments and agencies on pupil transportation
• Investigate and report accidents and transport-related incidents
• Provide timely reports to authorities and ensure policy compliance
• Continual professional growth and teamwork with colleagues
• Handle confidential matters with sound judgment
