Job summary

Algiers Charter Schools Association is seeking a School Bus Driver to safely transport students to and from school and events. You will follow schedules, perform vehicle inspections, and maintain order on the bus in line with district policies.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, valid CDL with P and S endorsements, clean driving record, and the ability to pass background checks and drug screening. First Aid/CPR certifications are preferred or obtainable within 60 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass background check and drug screening.
• Minimum three years in school transportation operations preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certifications preferred or obtainable within 60 days.
• Must possess City of New Orleans bus driver certificate (CPNC).

Responsibilities

• Operate a school bus on designated routes to a set time schedule.
• Ensure student safety during boarding, transit, and exiting the bus.
• Maintain order and discipline following district conduct policies.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Report mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.
• Comply with traffic regulations and transportation policies.
• Maintain records such as mileage, time logs, and incident reports.
• Communicate with parents, students, staff, and supervisors.
• Participate in required training, safety drills, and certifications.
