Job summary

Muon Space seeks a seasoned leader to build and scale the Spacecraft Components organization across Electronics & Embedded, Modules & Mechanisms, and Solar & Deployables, reporting to the Senior Director of Hardware Engineering.

You will own component roadmaps, qualification strategies, and collaborate across Product, Operations, and Production to deliver reliable components for diverse missions while mentoring managers and driving growth.

Qualifications

• 15+ years designing or managing design of complex, high-reliability systems in harsh environments
• 8+ years of people management including engineers and managers
• Strong foundation across electrical, embedded, and mechanical design/analysis
• Experience designing/manufacturing low-volume, high-mix products efficiently
• Proven project management from concept to deployment, with budgets and schedules
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving in fast-paced settings

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary organization to architect, design, qualify, and deliver spacecraft components across electronics, RF, modules/ mechanisms, and solar systems
• Own component roadmaps balancing concurrent missions and platform evolution, driving standardization
• Own design, analysis, qualification, and electrical test strategies with Hardware Reliability & Test
• Provide engineering design support to instrument and propulsion teams
• Collaborate with Product, BD, Systems Engineering, Software, and Operations to meet portfolio needs; support proposals and cost models
• Partner with Production and Supply Chain to scale from prototype to constellation quantities; design for manufacturability and test
• Own budgets, schedules, and milestones for component development programs
• Mentor and support multiple levels of team managers to enable scalable growth
