Job summary

Muon Space seeks an experienced leader to guide the Bus Structure and Missions team through rapid growth. The role oversees design, analysis, testing, and tailoring bus platforms for diverse missions, reporting to the Senior Director of Hardware Engineering.

Hybrid work with on-site presence in San Jose, CA three days weekly. The ideal candidate combines cross-disciplinary leadership with program management and a track record of scaling teams and delivering low-volume, high-mix products.

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership and program management experience.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to scale rapidly growing teams in a high-paced environment.
• Experience with designing complex space systems from concept to deployment.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team to architect, design, analyze, and qualify bus platforms to meet mission requirements.
• Collaborate with Product, BD, System Engineering, Software, Operations to meet customer needs.
• Work with Mission Management and customers on mission/instrument needs.
• Own bus platform instances and ensure milestones are met.
• Own spacecraft structural and thermal analysis and bus testing strategies.
• Develop hardware-in-the-loop testbeds for flight-representative systems.
• Support proposals, contribute to cost models, assess feasibility pre-contract.
• Own mechanical and electrical ground support equipment design for production.
• Mentor and scale multiple levels of team managers.
