Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking a Director of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) & Capacity Management to lead the reliability, performance, scalability, and capacity strategy for critical platforms in the United States. You will drive operational excellence, automation, and governance across SRE and capacity functions, partnering with Development, Infrastructure, Security, Architecture, and Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of IT experience, including development, support, and management.
• 10+ years in Technology Operations, SRE, Infra Ops, Capacity Management, or related disciplines.
• 5+ years leading managers, engineers, or technical teams.
• Experience leading enterprise reliability and operational excellence programs.
• Strong observability, monitoring, alerting, and incident management knowledge.
• Deep cloud, distributed systems, and enterprise operations expertise.
• Experience reporting operational metrics, KPIs, and dashboards.
• Proven ability to lead large-scale technology transformations and drive organizational change.
• Strong communication and executive presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop teams responsible for SRE and Capacity Management.
• Define and execute enterprise reliability, observability, performance, and capacity strategy.
• Establish objectives aligned to organizational goals for reliability and capacity.
• Build and maintain governance, standards, and best practices across technology operations.
• Drive automation and an excellence culture; partner with senior leaders to modernization efforts.
• Oversee monitoring, observability, incident management, and alerting enterprise-wide.
• Establish SLOs, SLIs, and reliability metrics; drive MTTR improvements.
• Lead capacity planning across infrastructure, cloud, and mainframe environments.
