District Department of Transportation (DDOT) seeks a seasoned leader to serve as Chief of Roadway Operations and Safety Officer. You will guide real-time roadway operations, incident response, and frontline safety programs, coordinating Traffic Control Officers and School Crossing Guards across major intersections and events.

The role emphasizes strategic staffing, performance metrics, and emergency readiness, with oversight across multiple branches and interagency collaboration to ensure safe

Qualifications

• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, in related fields such as traffic management or transportation.
• Experience leading large shift-based teams and coordinating emergency or incident responses.
• Proven ability to design and manage workforce schedules and performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for day-to-day real-time roadway operations and incident response.
• Oversee the Transportation Management Center and operational branches to ensure coordination and efficiency.
• Develop emergency action plans and coordinated response strategies for all-hazards events.
• Represent roadway operations in citywide and regional emergency planning and interagency forums.
• Plan and supervise multimodal flow at major events and communicate priorities to leadership.
