Job summary

District Department of Transportation (DDOT) seeks a seasoned civil engineer to manage design and construction of complex transportation projects in IPMA's Roadway Design Branch. The role requires directing multi-disciplinary teams and ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations.

The successful candidate will oversee scope, budgets, and schedules, apply advanced engineering principles, and coordinate with engineers, planners, data analysts, and technicians.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree from ABET-accredited program; or equivalent combination with relevant coursework.
• Four years of civil engineering experience in design, construction management, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with CAD (MicroStation) and ArcGIS; strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure and valid DC driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Advises management on complex civil engineering matters, scope, goals, and budget for multi-year plans.
• Manages design, delivery, and construction of difficult transportation projects.
• Leads projects solo or as a team with engineers, planners, data analysts, and technicians.
• Develops schedules, coordinates data from outside sources, and advises on technical solutions.
