City of New York is seeking a Deputy Assistant Commissioner to lead the DCAS Police Training Division, managing a regional law enforcement training program and curriculum for academies and in-service refresher courses per New York State requirements.

The role involves developing education materials, supervising training staff, and coordinating with external partners to ensure ongoing staff development and compliance with certifications and policies.

Formación

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college.
• 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory experience related to the duties are required or must be demonstrated by education/experience equivalence.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee the DCAS Police Training Division and maintain oversight of a regional law enforcement training program and curriculum for academies and annual in-service refresher courses as required by New York State.
• Develop and administer stakeholder-focused education materials and training engagements in law enforcement and public safety.
• Maintain oversight and development of training staff and ensure upkeep of certifications and relevant skills.
• Monitor the effectiveness of all training programs and identify/improve areas as needed.
• Coordinate and procure training with external private organizations or government agencies at various levels.
• Manage training and personnel records, ensure training compliance, respond to audits and investigations.
• Overhaul records management system and develop a comprehensive learning management system; design data visualizations.
• Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders (including NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services) on projects and growth of the department.
• Assist DCAS Police executive staff with development of operational policies and other special projects.
