Job summary

Alloy Therapeutics in Waltham, MA is seeking a Director of Protein Science to lead a team responsible for high-throughput mammalian protein production and mg-scale expression to support therapeutic programs.

You will collaborate with discovery, analytics and pharmacology teams, oversee project timelines, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders. The role reports to the site head Antibody-Powered Division.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of industry antibody or protein engineering experience (or master's with 12+ years).
• Proven track record leading protein expression, purification, and characterization.
• Hands-on depth in recombinant mammalian protein expression systems.
• Experience with complex purification techniques for bi- and multispecific antibodies.
• Strong communication and leadership skills; able to work across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of protein scientists.
• Own molecular biology, antibody expression, purification, and QC workflows.
• Engage prospective customers to articulate production strategies.
• Deliver high-throughput and mg-scale antibody production runs on time.
• Drive major decisions and resolve technical issues.
• Lead process improvement initiatives in the division.
