Job summary

Providence is seeking a Director of Coding to provide strategic and operational leadership across the Providence health system’s professional coding function. The role focuses on compliance, accuracy, and timeliness to support claims, regulatory reporting and quality initiatives.

The Director partners with Revenue Cycle leadership and clinical teams to standardize processes, improve productivity, and achieve revenue outcomes across multiple facilities and states.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in HIM or healthcare field as minimum.
• At least 10 years in ICD-10-CM coding and official guidelines.
• 7+ years in a management/supervisory coding role across facilities.
• Experience standardizing complex processes across multiple settings.
• Proven ability to identify and resolve issues impacting outcomes.
• Experience with process improvement methods and change management.

Responsibilities

• Lead professional coding operations across the health system.
• Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely coding of professional services.
• Develop and implement coding strategies, standards, and best practices.
• Drive performance, quality, productivity, and compliance outcomes.
• Partner with clinical, operational, compliance, and revenue cycle leaders to improve processes.
• Manage coding teams and resources to support organizational goals.
