Job summary

Providence is seeking a Director, Coding to provide strategic and operational leadership for professional coding across the health system. This role ensures compliant, accurate, and timely coding supporting claim submission, regulatory reporting, and quality initiatives.

Working with Revenue Cycle leadership, the Director develops coding strategies, oversees teams, and partners with clinical, compliance, and operations to improve coding quality and revenue cycle outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree: AHIMA accredited HIM program or equivalent
• 10+ years of ICD-10-CM coding and official coding guidelines
• 7+ years in management/supervisory role overseeing coding operations
• Experience standardizing complex processes across multiple facilities
• Proven ability to identify and resolve issues impacting outcomes
• Experience in process improvement, change management, and operational improvement

Responsibilities

• Lead professional coding operations across the health system.
• Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely coding of professional services.
• Develop and implement coding strategies, standards, and best practices.
• Drive performance, quality, productivity, and compliance outcomes.
• Partner with clinical, operational, compliance, and revenue cycle leaders to improve processes and results.
• Support organizational goals through effective management of coding teams and resources.
