Job summary

Mondrian Alpha is seeking a Director of Payroll to own payroll across a growing employee population. This hands-on, highly autonomous role oversees a complex multi-state environment and partner across HR, Finance and the broader business.

You will lead day-to-day processing, controls, tax compliance, vendor management, and employee inquiries while driving process improvements and automation to build a scalable payroll function as the firm expands.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of US payroll experience.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll processes.
• Solid understanding of federal, state and local payroll tax requirements.
• Ability to work independently while partnering across HR and Finance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll processing and controls across a multi-state employee base.
• Manage tax and compliance matters and vendor relationships.
• Handle employee inquiries and benefits administration.
• Drive process improvement and automation to scale the payroll function.
• Ensure accurate payroll records and strong internal controls.
