Job summary

Mondrian Alpha is seeking a Director of Payroll to own payroll across a growing employee population. This hands-on, highly autonomous role oversees a complex multi-state environment and partner across HR, Finance and the broader business.

You will lead day-to-day processing, controls, tax compliance, vendor management, and employee inquiries while driving process improvements and automation to build a scalable payroll function as the firm expands.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of US payroll experience.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll processes.
• Solid understanding of federal, state and local payroll tax requirements.
• Ability to work independently while partnering across HR and Finance.

Our client is an established private credit firm that has scaled significantly in recent years while maintaining a collaborative, tight-knit culture. As the business continues to expand, they are looking to hire an experienced Director of Payroll to take ownership of payroll across a growing employee population.

This is a hands-on, highly autonomous role overseeing a complex, multi-state payroll environment. You'll remain close to the day-to-day process while taking ownership of payroll processing and controls, tax and compliance matters, vendor management, employee inquiries, and related benefits administration.

A major focus will also be on process improvement and automation. As the firm continues to grow, this person will have the opportunity to improve workflows, strengthen controls, and help build a more scalable payroll function.
