Job summary

Care New England Health System – Kent Hospital is seeking a Patient Flow Director to coordinate patient placement and optimize throughput. You will oversee Nursing Supervisor staff, Float Pool, and staffing offices while guiding placement decisions across units.

The role requires an advanced nursing degree with RI licensure, BLS, and substantial leadership experience; certification in administration or specialty is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing or related field; RI licensure required.
• Minimum five years of nursing leadership experience or equivalent.
• RI State Nursing Licensure and BLS required.
• Certification in administration or related specialty preferred.
• Ten years of nursing experience preferred.
• Certification in specialty area expected within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Manages patient flow to assure timely patient placement.
• Rounding on units and facilitating timely discharges; address flow issues.
• Provide clinical guidance on patient placement per unit criteria.
• Communicate admissions, discharges, transfers among units.
• Coordinate with physicians, nursing, and admin during high census.
• Monitor OR and cardiac cath schedule to optimize flow.
• Oversee staffing patterns with Nurse Director; ensure competencies.
• Develop action plans based on data to improve patient flow.
• Facilitate daily bed meeting and morning huddle.
• Directly oversees Nursing Supervisor, staffing office, Float pool.
• Responsible for Morgue management.
• Develop policies and procedures related to patient flow.
• Complies with Kent Hospital policies; maintains training.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.
