Job summary

United Way of the National Capital Area is seeking a dynamic Director, Partner and Volunteer Engagement to lead nonprofit partnerships, volunteer programs, and capacity building. You will report to the VP of Community Impact & Engagement and guide a team across multiple initiatives to advance measurable community outcomes.

The role requires at least 5 years in nonprofit or related fields, strong relationship building, program management, and staff leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required; master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit, community engagement, volunteer engagement, partnership development, or related field.
• Demonstrated experience building and managing relationships with nonprofit, corporate, government, philanthropic, and community partners.
• Experience designing meaningful volunteer experiences and engagement opportunities.
• Experience managing and developing staff and/or teams.
• Demonstrated success planning and directing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives with measurable results.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and strengthen United Way NCA nonprofit network and partnerships.
• Oversee nonprofit membership model, engagement opportunities, and resource access.
• Lead volunteer engagement strategy, pathways, and program evaluation.
• Direct nonprofit capacity building, technical assistance, and training initiatives.
• Align partner and volunteer engagement with strategic priorities and plans.
• Manage teams, budgets, and cross-functional collaboration; produce leadership reports.
