Job summary

United Way of Greater Charlotte is seeking a Director of Community Initiatives to lead outward-facing programs, ensure accountability, and align resources with community impact strategies. You will collaborate with partners to advance equitable outcomes and steward multi-stakeholder initiatives across Greater Charlotte.

The role emphasizes strategic planning, public speaking, and executive-level collaboration, serving a team of about five staff while driving organizational growth and community

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years professional experience, 3+ leadership or management experience.
• Strong executive communication, strategic vision, organizational leadership, budgeting responsibility, ability to people lead.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to learn systems such as Andar, e-CImpact, Airtable, FormStack, Smartsheet.

Responsibilities

• Leads community engagement and capacity building, convening agencies and service providers, and training on inclusive practices.
• Oversees strategic grant-making from relationship-building to award management and panels.
• Directs evaluation frameworks for Unite Charlotte and United Neighborhoods with data-driven assessment.
• Manages multi-stakeholder partnerships and resolves conflicts to support neighborhood goals.
• Work with senior leadership to identify and secure new funding streams.
