Job summary

Vertex is seeking a Director of Package Engineering to lead a team of packaging engineers responsible for late-stage development, commercialization and supply of Vertex products. The role shapes strategy, develops leaders and drives efficiency across MS&T, supply chain and operations.

The role requires deep expertise in packaging for pharmaceutical products, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to navigate a fast-paced, matrix environment with up to 20% travel domestically

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging/Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• Typically requires 12 years of experience, including 5 years in leadership/management.
• Experience supporting packaging for pharmaceutical products from research through registration and launch.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with ability to influence cross-functionally.
• Travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical packaging engineering and align across functions.
• Support CMC packaging strategy and market applications with Regulatory.
• Represent MS&T on corporate/strategic teams and long-range planning.
• Provide leadership to resolve critical packaging issues with stakeholders.
• Review and approve documents with strategic importance to department.
