Job summary

Graham Packaging Company seeks a Director of Operations Engineering to lead the plant network and drive reliability, safety, and cost improvements across multi-site operations.

You will set priorities, govern resources, and deliver sustainable engineering solutions while partnering with Operations, Safety, Quality, and Finance. Strong Lean and Six Sigma foundations and extensive travel are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline; Electrical or Plastics Engineering preferred.
• Typically 12+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering and multi-site leadership.
• Demonstrated success leading technical teams, project portfolios, plant recoveries, and cross-functional improvement.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, automation, utilities, material handling, safety.
• Ability to translate technical issues into business risk, priorities, recovery plans, and measurable results.
• Experience managing budgets, contractors, OEMs, schedules, and project governance.
• Proficiency with structured problem solving, Lean/CI methods, PM tools, and data analysis.
• Ability to travel extensively (up to 75%).

Responsibilities

• Set strategy, priorities, resources, and performance expectations for Operations Engineering.
• Lead and develop the Operations Engineering organization with safety, collaboration, accountability and improvement.
• Act as SME and technical authority for one or more critical processes.
• Manage planned plant-support projects from scope through startup and benefits realization.
• Drive maintenance standardization to increase reliability and throughput and reduce downtime.
• Analyze SAP PM equipment history to identify predictive maintenance opportunities.
• Use SAP PM, Intelligent Factory, and quality data to track progress and sustain results.
• Partner with OEMs and vendors to resolve persistent issues.
• Validate corrective actions that improve availability and reliability.
• Direct engineering support during issues to restore flow and prevent recurrence.
• Develop scopes of work, prepare bid documents, and present business cases.
• Lead with A3, 8D, and FMEA; Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
