Job Description

This position is contingent on contract award and supports a proposed repatriation initiative providing comprehensive care for migrants awaiting reunification or repatriation. Responsibilities include initial screening, exams, identifying prior conditions and allergies, and routine, urgent, and emergency care. The Director of Nursing oversees and ensures quality in all nursing aspects, functions as part of the leadership team, and handles duties related to patient care, administration, and contractual obligations. Under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, they provide nursing leadership and perform regular duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative

  • Develop, implement, and apply policies and procedures for safe and efficient nursing care.
  • Monitor, audit, and evaluate nursing care quality.
  • Develop strategies, objectives, and plans for outpatient and inpatient services aligned with the company's mission.
  • Supervise nursing personnel in accordance with the Performance Work Statement.
  • Implement and supervise the Clinical Quality Assurance Plan.
  • Supervise the Medical Reception Department and Medical Surveillance Programs.
  • Assist in reviewing new hires and their credentials.

Personnel Management/Staffing

  • Identify staffing needs, monitor levels, and adjust to meet operational goals.
  • Define staffing requirements and competencies.
  • Ensure effective utilization of staff and resources.
  • Monitor overtime and surge staffing needs.
  • Develop and manage educational programs and training materials.
  • Coordinate staff orientation and refresher courses.
  • Develop strategies for professional development.
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback and counseling.
  • Assist in medical transfers coordination.

Leadership

  • Maintain visibility and accessibility to staff.
  • Collaborate on patient care standards and performance measurement.
  • Foster a positive work environment and innovative care.
  • Provide clinical leadership and serve as a technical resource.
  • Participate in department and medical committees.
  • Assess equipment and supply needs.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Current RN license as per state requirements.
  • At least 5 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience.
  • At least 2 years in outpatient/clinic settings.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Specialty certifications or advanced education are a plus.
  • Experience in military, government, detention, or migrant health is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission International or JCAHO regulations is advantageous.

Physical Demands

  • Work primarily in an office environment.
  • Prolonged sitting and standing.
  • Bending, stooping, lifting up to 25 lbs may be required.

Other Qualifications

  • Must be a US citizen or have a permanent resident card.
  • MRPT clearance preferred.

Additional Information

Salary range: $80,000 - $160,000, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k, paid time off, and bonuses. International SOS is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable laws.
