Job description

Primrose Retirement Communities is hiring for a Director of Nursing

Responsible for leading the direct care staff in the delivery of nursing services, enabling each resident to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. The Director of Nursing establishes the overall quality and adequacy of services provided, supervising the nursing staff in adherence to the Primrose Mission of providing a quality "person-centered" care approach to our growing senior population.

More about the position responsibilities:

  1. Ensures compassionate quality care to all residents.
  2. Participates in the recruitment and hiring of nursing personnel in a cost-effective manner.
  3. Ensures timely completion of resident assessments and service plans at pre-admission, admission, 30 days, semi-annually, and with change of condition or at intervals specified by State regulations.
  4. Evaluates whether the community can meet each resident's clinical needs, including new admissions, current residents, or transfers.
  5. Develops and implements an organized nursing system for the delivery of care and services, coordinating with other departments such as maintenance, pharmacy, dietary, housekeeping, laundry, and activities.
  6. Markets the community through tours, participation in events, health fairs, and speaking engagements with local civic groups.
  7. Demonstrates ability to comply with State and other applicable regulations governing the community and resident care.
  8. Communicates policies and procedures to nursing staff, monitors practices, and ensures implementation.
  9. Evaluates nursing personnel's work performance and addresses disciplinary actions as needed, following company policy.

What we're looking for:

  • Current, active, and non-restricted nursing license in the state of the community.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification per state regulations.
  • Knowledge of state laws and regulations applicable to nursing in assisted living.
  • Meet annual continuing education requirements for nursing license, if applicable.
  • Experience in long-term care or assisted living preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • Leadership skills in team building, motivation, and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of Alzheimer's and other dementias is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  • Availability for primarily day hours, with occasional varying hours and shared call duties.
