Job Summary

The Director of Nursing (DON) directs the operations of the Department of Nursing, Atrium Health Floyd School of Health Sciences.

Responsibilities
  1. Understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.
  2. ACCREDITATION
    1. Serve as the designated nurse administrator as defined by the Georgia Board of Nursing and accreditation agency.
    2. Assume authority and responsibility for the administration, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing education program(s) to ensure compliance with USG, SACSCOC, ACEN, and GBON guidelines.
    3. Direct ongoing accreditation activities to ensure continual adherence to standards.
    4. Prepare recurring and special reports for the GBON, ACEN, USG, and other agencies as required.
  3. ADMINISTRATIVE
    1. Maintain stewardship of department statistics and historical data as required by USG, accreditation agencies, and regulatory bodies.
    2. Collaborate with Dean of Health Sciences to develop and administer the nursing budget.
  4. INTERNAL/EXTERNAL AFFAIRS
    1. Chair the Nursing Advisory Board.
    2. Represent GHC and the department at meetings, conferences, and seminars within the county, state, and university system.
    3. Collaborate with the Dean of Health Sciences to obtain support and resources for the nursing department.
    4. Recruit, screen, hire, and mentor the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) and direct report staff.
    5. Recruit students for all nursing programs.
    6. Collaborate closely with clinical partners to ensure program objectives are met.
    7. Manage all grant responsibilities as the point of contact and all pre and post-award activities.
    8. Support the process toward resolution of complaints and grievances from students, parents, and other interested parties.
    9. Serve on college committees as assigned.
  5. OTHER
    1. Instruct six (6) credit hours for the academic year as assigned.
    2. Meet common expectations of the faculty.
    3. Perform other duties as assigned by Dean of Health Sciences.
Required Qualifications
  1. Graduate degree in nursing and doctoral prepared.
  2. Knowledge and competency associated with the completion of a master's degree in a related field.
  3. Administrative experience sufficient to understand the diverse objectives of the department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience.
  4. Un-encumbered license as a registered nurse and eligible to practice in Georgia.
  5. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Proposed Salary

Commensurate with experience.
