Job summary

City of Lynchburg is seeking a seasoned IT leader to oversee the City’s information technology infrastructure, including WAN, LAN, data, voice, and security. You will plan, operate, and support IT services, with oversight of the Service Desk and end-user training.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five years managing large IT teams and networks, with ITIL/NIMS credentials preferred. Strong budgeting and vendor management are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or related field.
• At least five years of experience managing WAN and LAN/PC technicians or network engineers/planners.
• Experience in WAN and LAN design, planning, project proposals, and budgets.
• IS100 and IS700 NIMS training within 90 days of employment; higher levels may be required.
• CISM or CISSP and ITIL desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan, engineer, operate, and support City's IT infrastructure including WAN, LANs, data, voice, video, security, servers, and data centers.
• Oversee end-user desktop and mobile support, Service Desk, account admin, and training.
• Coordinate between City government, City schools, and other organizations using the infrastructure.
• Monitor and respond to Federal and State IT legislation affecting the City.
• Provide strategic planning for technology infrastructure and disaster recovery.
• Manage vendor and outsourcing relationships for technology services.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and budgets; align investments with goals and constraints.
