Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting seeks a Director of Human Resources in Naperville, IL to lead HR strategy across multiple locations. You will drive scalable HR systems, partner with senior leadership, and guide compensation, policies, and workforce planning to support rapid growth.

The role demands 10+ years in HR, experience in construction/manufacturing environments, and a hands-on leadership approach. Union and non-union relations, HRIS/payroll experience (Paycom) and acquisitions support are valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
• Proven HR leadership in construction or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to build and implement scalable HR infrastructure.
• Expertise in compensation design, policies and performance management.
• Experience with employee relations, recruitment, payroll and benefits.
• Experience managing HR across multiple locations.
• Strong communication with employees, managers and senior leaders.
• Hands-on leadership blending strategy with daily operations.
• Experience with union and non-union labor relations.
• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred; bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
• Experience supporting acquisitions and HR integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead HR strategy and oversee daily HR operations across sites.
• Enhance HR practices to scale with growth.
• Develop and refine HR policies, procedures and best practices.
• Design and maintain compensation programs and performance processes.
• Oversee employee relations, recruitment, payroll, benefits and planning.
• Partner with senior leadership on organizational design and development.
• Support HR integration during acquisitions and expansion.
• Maintain HRIS and payroll systems for efficiency and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with employment and labor laws.
• Foster an entrepreneurial, people-focused culture with governance for growth.
