Samuel Packaging Systems Group seeks a Director of Human Resources to act as a strategic partner and capability builder, focusing on commercial excellence and procurement advantage. The role anchors on go-to-market strategy, sales effectiveness, and procurement talent practices.

The HR leader will shape talent, incentives, and organizational design to drive revenue growth and sustainable competitive advantage, reporting to the Business President/GM with dotted lines to HR leadership.

Qualifications

• Senior HR leader with 15+ years of progressive HR experience.
• Direct partnership with commercial (sales/marketing) and procurement organizations.
• Expertise in sales incentive design, commercial capability development, and procurement talent practices.
• Strong understanding of what drives high performance in salespeople and buyers.
• Proven ability to translate business strategy into practical HR solutions that improve revenue growth, margin, and customer outcomes.
• Experience operating in complex, multi-channel go-to-market environments.
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA and SHRM/HRCI certification preferred.
• Strong business acumen, analytical capability, and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the GM and senior leaders to align people strategy with go-to-market, customer strategy, and procurement objectives.
• Lead as subject-matter expert in commercial and procurement talent practices and incentives.
• Design, implement, and refine sales variable compensation structures.
• Define success profiles and leadership attributes for sales and procurement roles.
• Develop programs for commercial and procurement teams, including negotiation, value-based selling, and sourcing excellence.
• Attract, develop, and retain high-performing talent in commercial and procurement.
• Provide guidance on performance management, talent assessments, and succession planning.
• Leverage HR analytics and systems to measure productivity and incentive effectiveness.
• Operate within a matrix organization with Centers of Excellence while owning execution.
• Ensure compliant application of HR policies with speed and business outcomes.
