Position Summary:

The Director of Finance will oversee all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for a growing homebuilding organization. This strategic leader will provide data-driven insights to support key decisions related to land acquisition, construction operations, and home sales. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of residential construction cycles, revenue recognition, and job costing in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the budgeting and forecasting process across departments, including construction, development, sales, and marketing.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and industry-specific practices.
• Monitor cash flow and working capital needs, including draw schedules, vendor payments, and buyer deposits.
• Develop and analyze financial models for new land development opportunities, community expansion, and lot acquisition.
• Partner with construction and operations teams to evaluate project cost controls and profitability per unit or subdivision.
• Manage accounting functions including AP/AR, general ledger, job cost accounting, and fixed asset management.
• Coordinate and oversee external audits, tax filings, and banking relationships.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and requirements.
• Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the homebuilding or construction industry.
• Deep knowledge of cost accounting, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion revenue models.
• Experience with homebuilding ERP software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, BuilderTREND, MarkSystems, or similar).
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with construction, development, sales, and executive leadership.
