Job summary

Pinnacle Consulting & Recruitment is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its finance and accounting function as the business scales. You will oversee core accounting operations, ensure GAAP-compliant reporting, and partner with the CFO and CEO on strategic initiatives.

With 7+ years in accounting and a strong background in ERP systems, you will implement rigorous controls and drive improvements across close cycles, budgeting, and cash management as the organization accelerates growth

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with integrated ERP systems and financial systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-directed, detail-oriented, and able to operate in a fast-paced growth environment.
• Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-driven settings is highly desirable.
• Private equity-backed or acquisitive company experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting operations including billing, AR/AP, GL, cost and inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
• Coordinate month-end and year-end closes, journal entries, reconciliations, and GAAP-based financial statements.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes.
• Manage cash, treasury, and bank reporting activities.
• Prepare compliance documentation and cash flow forecasts; research technical accounting matters.
• Maintain fixed asset oversight and manage credit card/sales commission processing.
• Lead credit review and new customer setup; ensure tax compliance.
• Strengthen internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures; partner with senior leadership.
• Support CFO/CEO on strategic financial initiatives and growth through acquisitions.
• Ensure accuracy and quality across all financial transactions and reporting.

Job description

A growing, private equity-backed organization is seeking an experienced Controller to join its finance and accounting leadership team.

With approximately $100M in current revenue, the company is entering an exciting period of accelerated growth and expects to more than double in size over the next 2–3 years through a combination of organic initiatives and strategic acquisitions.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will serve as a key leader within the organization, overseeing core accounting operations, strengthening financial processes and controls, and partnering with executive leadership as the business continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead accounting operations, including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
• Oversee month-end and year-end close, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Coordinate budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting
• Manage cash management and treasury activities
• Prepare bank reporting, compliance documentation, and cash flow forecasts
• Research and resolve technical accounting matters
• Maintain oversight of fixed assets
• Manage credit card and sales commission processing
• Lead credit review and new customer setup processes
• Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal reporting and tax requirements
• Develop and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
• Partner closely with the CFO, CEO, and senior leadership team on strategic financial initiatives
• Support the continued development of the finance function as the company grows organically and through acquisitions
• Ensure accuracy and quality across financial transactions and reporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Experience working with fully integrated ERP systems
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Self-directed, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
• Experience within a manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-driven environment is highly desirable
• Experience in a private equity-backed or acquisitive organization is a plus
