Job summary

Our Client, a private equity-backed spinal biologics and medical devices distribution company experiencing rapid growth, is seeking a hands-on Controller who is excited to build, scale, and evolve into a Chief Financial Officer as the business grows.

This is an on-site highly visible role working closely with executive leadership and PE partners. The ideal candidate is comfortable getting into the details, building structure where it doesn’t yet exist, and helping professionalize the finance function in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Own all accounting and financial operations, including GL, month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Lead and execute an ERP implementation, including the transition from cash-basis to accrual-basis accounting
• Develop and improve financial processes, policies, and reporting as the company scales
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and strategic initiatives
• Prepare financial reporting for senior management and private equity stakeholders
• Support audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements
• Build and mentor the finance/accounting team over time
• Act as a strategic thought partner to the CEO with a clear succession path to CFO

Qualifications

• Prior experience in medical device distribution is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required)
• Proven experience with ERP implementation or major systems upgrades
• Strong technical accounting background with the ability to operate strategically
• Willingness to roll up sleeves and handle both tactical and strategic work
• Experience in a startup, early-stage, or high-growth environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with PE sponsors and executive leadership
