Job summary

GEICO seeks an experienced attorney and compliance leader to build and lead our ethical culture program. This Director owns compliance policies, fosters a speak-up culture, and partners with Corporate Litigation and Investigations, People Group, Employment Law, and Corporate Secretary.

The role builds a team, creates metrics, and advises senior leadership on ethics and conduct. This is a hybrid leadership position reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer with responsibilities across risk

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 10+ years of relevant ethics, compliance, employment law, or related specialty, including building or scaling a program and managing investigations.
• Experience building and managing a team, including hiring, performance management, and mentoring.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal and compliance concepts to non-lawyers and senior leadership.
• Proficiency in managing multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders across departments.
• Must be able to perform essential functions including seeing, hearing, typing, and speaking.

Responsibilities

• Own and administer GEICO's Code of Business Ethics and Conduct; lead ethical culture and speak-up channel oversight.
• Partner with Corporate Litigation & Investigations, Corporate Secretary, and People Group on investigations and conflicts of interest processes.
• Develop metrics to measure ethical health; lead associate surveys and program reviews; coordinate with Learning & Development on content and deployment.
• Build and manage a cross-functional team; align policy and escalation with People Group, Employment Law, Corporate Secretary, and outside counsel.
• Exercise independent legal judgment on significant ethics issues and prepare reporting for senior leadership.
