Job summary

Deploy is seeking a Director, Estimating & Preconstruction to lead the estimating and preconstruction function across all platform categories, including Data Center, Healthcare, Retail, and emerging building types. This role owns pricing accuracy, the historical cost database, and the standards that govern how pricing is developed, with final pricing review authority prior to executive sign-off.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Data Analytics, or related field.
12+ years in the construction industry with 6+ years in Preconstruction and Estimating and leadership of estimating leaders.
Proven accountability for estimating and preconstruction across multiple programs totaling >$250M in annual pursuit value.
History of improving estimate-to-actual variance, margin performance, and pursuit results with executives.
Experience building relationships with C-suite and clients during pursuit and negotiation.
Ability to restructure and grow a multi-layer estimating organization and develop leaders.
Strong presentation skills to defend pricing and margin with senior stakeholders.
Experience establishing company-wide estimating standards and data practices and directing technology investments.
Ability to stand up estimating capability for new building types and markets.
Proven ability to take control of high-risk pursuits and return to defensible state.
Understanding of multiple delivery methods, contract types, procurement strategies, and risk allocation.

Responsibilities

Own organizational accuracy, integrity, and margin impact of preconstruction estimates at a global level.
Hold final review and approval over pursuit pricing prior to executive sign-off and enforce assumptions, risks, contingency, and escalation logic.
Lead estimate-to-actual performance reviews and drive corrective action to improve benchmarks and productivity.
Define and uphold organization-wide estimating standards, templates, and data practices for all estimate types.
Own and protect the preconstruction relational database as an enterprise asset and direct investments to keep it current.
Lead capital and capacity planning inputs for manufacturing pricing, escalation, labor, and supply chain exposure.
Stand up estimating capability for new building types and platform categories with first-of-a-kind cost models.
Design and evolve the Estimating & Preconstruction organization structure and leadership team.
Mentor Associate Directors, Managers, and Estimators; drive performance and succession planning.
Set standards for bid/proposal processes, subcontracting, and award recommendations.
Provide go/no-go guidance and margin viability analysis to senior leadership.
Establish risk analysis cadence and elevate pricing risk to leadership.
Lead Value Engineering initiatives for the largest and most complex pursuits.
Ensure preconstruction schedules and cost baselines align with operations handoff.
