Job summary

MissionHires is seeking a Director of Preconstruction to lead front-end strategy for mission-critical wet and dry utility installation projects. This leadership role oversees estimating, procurement planning, constructability review, proposal development, and the transition of awarded work to operations.

The ideal candidate brings data center construction experience, commercial judgment, and the ability to drive cost, schedule, and scope clarity in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in project planning, scheduling, preconstruction, estimating, or related construction discipline.
• 3+ years of management or leadership experience.
• Experience with data center or mission-critical construction projects.
• Strong estimating, quantity takeoffs, procurement planning, and risk review.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction and estimating efforts for proposals, review RFQs, drawings, specs, and owner requirements.
• Develop detailed cost estimates for civil, electrical, and structural scopes.
• Collaborate with construction, engineering, and estimating teams to improve estimate accuracy.
• Support design reviews and incorporate production rates and market intelligence into estimates and schedules.
• Develop early procurement plans for long-lead materials and subcontracted scopes.
• Create bid packages and monitor pricing in volatile markets.
• Coordinate estimating, procurement, scheduling, and readiness documentation for internal teams.
• Lead development of project schedules and preconstruction-to-operations handoff activities.
• Review RFPs, qualify opportunities, and develop proposal content and execution narratives.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks, support pricing strategy discussions, and provide technical expertise.
